Grey Wagtail - SOLD
This stone wall borders a footpath between Rydal and Grasmere in the Lake District. The path is known as the Coffin Route - named for the days in which there was no church at Rydal and the dead had to be carried to the next village. In spite of its name, it is a beautiful walk, with views over Rydal Water.
Part way along the footpath is an old stone trough, the side wall of which is seen in the painting. The water dripping down the stone wall was just irresistable!
