About the artist...
Well, this is me!
I'm primarily a wildlife artist. I paint in acrylic and have work held in private collections throughout the UK, Europe, Asia, Australia and America. I have exhibited at the British Birdwatching Fair for the past six years alongside some of the best bird artists in the world and have been fortunate enough to win awards for my paintings.
However, I also love working with gold leaf and egg tempera - pure pigment mixed with egg yolk - and have some ideas about using this in a contemporary way. You can read about my battles with these traditional techniques on my blog.
I draw the occasional portrait and I have been delighted to have these accepted for exhibition with the Society of Women Artists at the prestigious Mall Galleries in London. You can see some of these under 'People' if you're interested.
People often ask me where I trained. Well, I haven't been to art school (read about what I did instead) and am largely self-taught. I have had a vast amount of help and advice from artist friends over the years. Their help has been invaluable and I am truly grateful.
Family are hugely important to me. I've been happily married for lots of years and have two wonderful girls aged 20 and 22, who have now fledged and are both enjoying city live (most of the time!). Lizzie, artist and musician, has a degree in Fine Art (Norwich School of Art) and is working for Shooting Roots teaching music, song, guitar, whistle and craft. Emma, drama student and cake maker is currently living in Leicester. See her sugarcraft creations here.
